Big Belly Breathing (BBB) is a bilingual audio program for kids (and the grownups who love them), founded by Vanessa Hutchinson-Szekely. Featuring episodes in English and French, BBB focuses on mindfulness, health, and wellness—inviting young listeners into joyful, imaginative, and restorative practices.

As a Physical Education and meditation teacher, parent of bilingual kids, yoga instructor, social-emotional learning facilitator, and holistic health & wellness coach, Vanessa created Big Belly Breathing to help children establish daily habits that nurture both body and mind.

Healthy Habits = Happy Kids

Through each episode, children are gently guided to:

  • Breathe mindfully
  • Stretch their creativity
  • Build emotional awareness
  • Practice gratitude
  • And enjoy mini-moments of deep rest that help them reset, restore, and recalibrate.

In today’s busy, screen-heavy world, BBB offers kids a chance to feel centered, grounded, and good—helping them create their own self-care rituals, routines, and wellness habits that can last a lifetime.

These tools support mental clarity, physical health, and emotional resilience, setting kids up for more joy today and as they grow into adulthood.

But it’s not just for kids!

"Night Journey to Buenos Aires: A Caring Circle with the Jaguar"

Hello and welcome to Big Belly Breathing! Bienvenue to health, rest, and relaxation.

My name is Vanessa Hutchinson-Szekely, and I’m so happy to guide you on this peaceful journey to help you relax and prepare for a wonderful night’s sleep. Tonight, we’re taking a gentle, magical trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a focus on caring. Our breathing practice is called Circle Breathing. It’s simple and soothing: place your hands over your heart and move them in a slow, gentle circle as you breathe in, and then reverse the circle as you breathe out. This special movement reminds us that care flows both ways—within us and out into the world.

So, go ahead and get cozy in your bed. Wiggle around until you feel just right. Let your arms and legs relax. Close your eyes and feel how soft and safe your bed is, like a calm little cloud ready to carry you into dreamland.

When you’re ready, place your hands gently over your heart. As you breathe in, move your hands slowly in a gentle circle, feeling warmth spread beneath your palms. On the exhale, reverse the circle, letting any thoughts from the day drift away like clouds in the sky. Breathe like this a few more times, each circle of breath bringing you deeper into peace and care.

Visualization:

Now, imagine we’re taking a magical nighttime journey to the glowing city of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. This city dances with life during the day—but at night, it hushes into a gentle, golden calm.

Picture yourself walking through the historic neighborhood of San Telmo. The cobblestone streets are still warm from the day’s sun, and the soft hum of tango music floats from an open window nearby. Lanterns glow overhead, casting warm light onto balconies and old stone walls. You feel completely at ease, like the city is gently holding you with kindness.

Just then, you notice a graceful jaguar appear nearby. Its fur is patterned with strong, beautiful spots, and its eyes glow softly in the moonlight. Jaguars are powerful yet calm—symbols of protection, care, and quiet strength. This jaguar walks slowly toward you, peaceful and unafraid. You place your hands over your heart again, breathing in a deep sense of safety and calm, and feel the caring energy of this majestic creature.

The jaguar walks with you now, quietly guiding you through the city. You arrive at the Bosques de Palermo, a peaceful park with quiet lakes and tree-lined paths. Moonlight reflects gently on the water, and the air smells of night-blooming jasmine. You and the jaguar stroll by the lake, each step soft and sure. You feel the earth steady beneath your feet, like it’s reminding you that you’re cared for, grounded, and whole.

Now imagine walking into the Rosedal, the rose garden. Even at night, the air is filled with the delicate scent of flowers—thousands of roses, each blooming like a tiny symbol of love and care. You pause to take a breath. Inhale that sweet, floral air. Exhale, and feel any worries soften and float away. The jaguar sits quietly beside you, calm and kind, its presence reminding you to be gentle with yourself and others.

As your journey continues, the jaguar leads you to the Obelisco, glowing softly in the heart of the city. It stands tall and quiet now, and the streets around it are hushed and still. You sit on a quiet bench nearby and take one last deep breath of Buenos Aires' nighttime magic. Place your hands on your heart once more and move them in a circle. As you breathe in, feel care grow inside you. As you breathe out, imagine sharing that care with someone you love.

It’s time to say goodnight to your gentle jaguar guide. The jaguar gazes at you with wise, caring eyes, as if to say, “You are safe. You are loved. You are enough.” Slowly, the city begins to fade as you return to the feeling of your bed—soft, cozy, and warm.

Let your breathing slow. Let your body rest.

Caring surrounds you. Peace is with you.

Sweet dreams, dear one.
 Goodnight, and sleep well.
Bonne nuit.
