My name is Vanessa Hutchinson-Szekely, and I'm delighted to guide you on this bedtime journey where we’ll visit the enchanting city of Paris, a place filled with nighttime wonder. This wondrous place is the capital of France, currently in the spotlight as the host city for this year's Summer Olympics.
Settle into your bed, get cozy under your blanket, squeeze your lovey or stuffed animal, close your eyes and let's begin our adventure under the starlit Parisian skies with a special breathing technique called Mountain Breathing to help us relax and get ready for our journey.
Imagine a majestic mountain in front of you. With each inhale, imagine you are climbing higher up the mountain, and with each exhale, imagine you are descending into a peaceful valley below. Let's start. Breathe in deeply through your nose as you ascend the mountain, and breathe out through your mouth as you descend. Continue this breathing, feeling more relaxed with each breath.
Now, imagine you are standing along the banks of the Seine River in Paris. The city lights reflect off the gentle water, creating a shimmering pathway. You hear the soft lapping of the river against the shore and the distant sounds of laughter and music drifting through the air. The night is cool and filled with the scent of blooming flowers from nearby gardens.
As you stand by the river, a magical animal companion appears by your side. It's Marcelle, a sleek and graceful Parisian cat with a coat as dark as the night sky and wise, amber eyes. Marcelle is not just any cat; she has a magical ability to guide and protect you on your journey through Paris. You feel an instant bond with Marcelle, and together, you begin your adventure.
You stroll along the banks of the Seine with Marcelle by your side. You pass under historic bridges adorned with ornate sculptures and twinkling lights. Marcelle purrs softly as you cross the Pont des Arts, where lovers once placed locks to symbolize their eternal bond. The bridge offers a breathtaking view of the city's illuminated landmarks, like the Eiffel Tower standing tall against the night sky.
Next, you wander through the charming streets of Montmartre, where artists once found inspiration in its winding cobblestone alleys and quaint cafes. Marcelle weaves gracefully between your feet as you climb the steps to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. The basilica glows warmly in the moonlight, offering a peaceful sanctuary high above the bustling city below.
From Montmartre, you make your way to the vibrant Canal Saint-Martin. Marcelle leads you along the tree-lined banks of the canal, where boats gently bob in the water and people gather at waterside cafes. The air is filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and the laughter of friends enjoying a late-night picnic.
As you continue your journey, Marcelle takes you to the historic Père Lachaise Cemetery. The cemetery is quiet and serene, with ancient trees casting long shadows over weathered tombstones. Marcelle pauses to nuzzle against your leg, offering comfort as you reflect on the stories of the past and the peacefulness of the present.
Now, imagine yourself finding a comfortable spot in the cemetery or along the canal. Sit down and take a deep breath in, feeling the peace and tranquility of this moment in Paris. Think about all the wonderful things in your life – your family, your friends, your favorite activities. Take a moment to picture some of your friends, and feel the love in your heart grow bigger. Feel the abundance of love and happiness surrounding you, just like the abundance of beauty in Paris. As you breathe out, imagine sharing this abundance with everyone around you. Marcelle curls up beside you, her presence bringing a sense of calm and contentment.
It’s time to leave the cemetery and make your way back to the Seine River. Marcelle leads you safely across the bustling streets of Paris, guiding you with her gentle presence. Take one last look at the city's twinkling lights and the peacefulness of the night. Feel the cool breeze, hear the distant echoes of music, and carry with you the peace and joy of this magical place.
You arrive back at the Seine River where you began, feeling grateful for this journey through Paris with Marcelle. Take a moment to thank Paris and its beautiful places for reminding you of the abundance in your life, and giving special thanks to your friendships. Merci for joining me on this voyage to Paris.
